Network support in Charlotte, NC for businesses with 10 to 300 people: firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi, cabling, remote access and the monitoring that catches problems before your staff do. Network Essentials has run business networks in Charlotte since 2002. Our security practice is CISSP-led, our help desk answers live from 6am to 6pm on weekdays, and every agreement is month-to-month.
What network support covers
- Firewalls and internet edge. Configuration, rule reviews, firmware, failover between two internet lines, and the VPN or zero-trust access your remote staff use.
- Switches and cabling. Managed switches, VLANs that separate phones, guest Wi-Fi and payment devices, patch panel cleanup, and new drops when you move or grow.
- Wi-Fi. Coverage surveys, access point placement, separate guest and staff networks, and fixes for the meeting room that always drops.
- Remote access. Secure connections for people working from home, branch offices and the road. We deploy and manage Zscaler for clients who want to retire the traditional VPN.
- Monitoring 24/7. Every device we manage is monitored around the clock. Outages, failed backups and unusual traffic raise alerts to our engineers; routine tickets are handled during business hours.
- Documentation. Diagrams, IP plans, passwords in a vault, and vendor contacts, kept current so no fix depends on one person’s memory.
Who this is for
Charlotte-area firms that depend on their network every hour of the day: CPA and accounting firms, registered investment advisers and wealth managers, law firms, medical and dental practices, manufacturers and professional services firms. Most have 10 to 300 staff, one to a few locations, and either no in-house IT or one person who needs backup. If you have an internal IT team, see co-managed IT services.
How it works
- Free IT audit. We review what you have: internet lines, firewall, switches, Wi-Fi, cabling and the current support agreement. You get a plain-English report of what is solid, what is exposed and what is undocumented.
- Fix the urgent items. Anything the audit flags as a risk is quoted and fixed first, as a one-time project if you prefer.
- Monitor and support. Devices go under 24/7 monitoring. Your staff call or email the help desk between 6am and 6pm weekdays; clients have an after-hours emergency line for outages.
- Review quarterly. We walk through what happened, what is aging out, and what next year’s budget should include.
Terms and pricing
Network support is included in our managed IT agreements, which start at $2,000 per month and are month-to-month from day one: no annual contract, cancel with 30 days’ written notice, no termination fee. Price changes come with written notice. One-time projects, such as a new office build-out or a firewall replacement, are quoted as fixed-price work. Details are on our month-to-month managed IT agreement page; the wider service is described under managed IT services in Charlotte.
Network support and network security are one job
Most breaches start with a network setting nobody reviewed: an open port, a flat network, a firewall rule from a vendor that left years ago. Our network support engineers work alongside the security team, so a support ticket that touches the firewall gets a security check too. For what that involves, read our network security guide for Charlotte SMBs and our cybersecurity services page.
Where we work
Our office is at Carmel Commons in south Charlotte. We support networks across the Charlotte region, including Huntersville, Gastonia, Indian Trail, Concord, Mooresville and Fort Mill.
Frequently asked questions
Do you support networks you did not install?
Yes. Most clients come to us with equipment another provider installed. The audit documents what is there; we replace only what is failing or unsupported.
What hours is network support available?
The help desk answers live from 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Monitoring runs 24/7. Existing clients have an after-hours emergency line for outages.
Can you help with just one project?
Yes. New office cabling, a firewall replacement or a Wi-Fi redesign can be a fixed-price project without a managed agreement. See IT consulting in Charlotte.
Do we need a long-term contract?
No. Managed agreements are month-to-month from day one, with 30 days’ written notice to cancel and no termination fee.
