How we measure whether you're actually secure
Most providers describe what they install. We measure what it achieves.
Every client environment is assessed against the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0 — the standard used across US industry and government, organised into six functions: Govern, Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover — and re-measured on a defined cadence. You see the direction of travel, subcategory by subcategory, instead of a list of tools.
For clients on the Microsoft 365 licensing we recommend, a standard all-in engagement covers the controls needed to align with the large majority of the 106 CSF 2.0 subcategories, with no add-on purchases. Where a client chooses lighter licensing, we show exactly which subcategories fall out of scope and what it would take to close them. Nothing is hidden in the fine print, and there is no such thing as a NIST certification. What we give you is a measurement you can hand to an auditor, an insurer or a board.
What's included, with no add-ons
These are included in a standard managed engagement. They are not upgrades.
- EDR / MDR — endpoint detection and response on every managed device, monitored and acted on.
- SIEM — centralised log collection and correlation across your environment, so an incident on one system is visible against everything else.
- 24/7/365 SOC staffed by people — a security operations centre with a human on shift every hour of the year, not an alerting queue that waits for morning.
- Zero Trust access — delivered on the Zscaler platform, so users and devices are verified every time rather than trusted because they are "inside the network".
- Microsoft 365 security configuration — the licensing and settings that most of the NIST alignment depends on, recommended and managed rather than left to defaults.
When you compare quotes, check whether the other one lists these as line items.
Clients we support under FINRA, SEC, CMMC, PCI-DSS and HIPAA
We do not hold these certifications ourselves — they are the regulations our clients answer to, and our job is to make the answer a good one.
- FINRA and SEC — advisory firms and broker-dealers: access controls, retention, incident response documentation and the security evidence an examiner asks for.
- CMMC — companies in the DoD supply chain: gap assessment against NIST SP 800-171, remediation, and the ongoing controls CMMC 2.0 expects.
- PCI-DSS — businesses that take card payments: network segmentation, logging and the technical controls behind the self-assessment.
- HIPAA — medical and dental practices: risk analysis support, encryption, audit logging and vendor management for business associates.

Questions Charlotte businesses ask us
Is NIST CSF a certification?
No. It is a framework for measuring and improving a security programme. We baseline every client against CSF 2.0 and report progress against its 106 subcategories; nobody can be certified against it.
What does "all-in" actually include?
EDR/MDR, SIEM, a 24/7/365 human-staffed SOC and Zero Trust access are part of a standard engagement. They are not sold as add-ons.
Does the NIST CSF coverage apply to every client?
It applies to clients on the Microsoft 365 licensing we recommend, because several controls depend on it. If you choose lighter licensing, we tell you exactly which subcategories fall outside scope.
Who is the CISSP?
The engagement is led by a CISSP continuously certified since 2014. ISC2 provides public verification, and the credential is linked on this page.
Which regulations do you support?
Clients regulated under FINRA, SEC, CMMC, PCI-DSS and HIPAA across the Charlotte metro. We help you meet the requirement; we do not claim it on your behalf.
